What is an appraisal?
An appraisal is an attractive document that states the identifiable characteristics of your instrument and its approximate resale value.
Why do I need an appraisal?
An appraisal is necessary for listing your instrument with your homeowners or renters insurance company for reimbursement in case of loss.
An appraisal is proof of your claim to your instrument in the event of theft.
An appraisal is useful at the point of resale, showing that an authority has predetermined the value of your instrument.
How much does an appraisal cost?
Kirk Violins appraisals are prepared for $95.00. This price includes all research necessary to determine the instrument’s resale value. This price covers the appraisal of one instrument,
one bow, and one case. Additional bows cost $45.00 each.
How can I get an appraisal?
We will of course need to examine your instrument, bow, and case. Instruments can be safely shipped to us insured. (see FAQ page, How to prepare an instrument for shipping.)
